GBH: Thank you for joining us, Mr. Saad. Let’s start at the beginning. What inspired you to found your company, and how has your vision evolved over time?
HS: I started Hany Saad Innovations with a simple belief: design should not just look good, it should transform how people live and experience spaces. At the beginning, the focus was on creating beautiful interiors. Over time, the vision evolved into building a full design–build ecosystem where we control the entire journey—from concept to execution)—ensuring quality, consistency, and a strong signature in every project. Today, the vision is about creating timeless, high-impact projects that compete on a global level.
GBH: How would you describe your leadership style, and how does it influence your team?
HS: I would describe my leadership as hands-on, detail-oriented, and vision-driven. I push my team to think beyond the obvious and to always challenge the standard. At the same time, I believe in empowering them and giving them ownership. This creates a culture where creativity meets accountability—everyone knows the level we aim for, and everyone works to achieve it.
GBH: What sets your company apart from others in the industry?
HS: What truly sets us apart is that we don’t separate design from execution. We are deeply involved in both, which allows us to deliver exactly what we envision—without compromise. Also, we focus heavily on creating a strong identity for each project. We don’t repeat ourselves. Every project is treated as a unique statement.
GBH: What major challenges have you faced while growing your business, and how did you overcome them?
HS: One of the biggest challenges was scaling without losing quality. As the company grew, maintaining the same level of detail and control became more complex. We overcame this by building strong internal systems, investing in the right people, and staying personally involved in key decisions. Growth is important, but consistency is everything.
GBH: How do you balance creativity with commercial success in your projects?
HS: For me, creativity and commercial success are not opposites—they should support each other. A well-designed space increases value, attracts the right audience, and performs better commercially. The key is understanding the client’s business objectives and translating them into a design that is both unique and financially successful.
GBH: What key trends are shaping your industry today?
HS: Technology and sustainability are definitely shaping the future. We are seeing more integration of smart systems, as well as a stronger focus on materials, energy efficiency, and long-term value. At the same time, there is a shift toward more personalized and experiential spaces—clients want something unique, not just functional.
GBH: Which experiences have had the biggest impact on your career journey?
HS: Working on large-scale hospitality and residential projects had a major impact on me. These projects taught me how to manage complexity, deal with different stakeholders, and maintain a clear vision under pressure. Also, expanding into different markets across the region helped me understand diverse client expectations and elevate our standards.
GBH: Was there a defining moment that changed your approach to business or leadership?
HS: Yes—when I realized that being a good designer is not enough to build a successful company. You need structure, systems, and strong leadership. That shift changed how I approach everything—from team building to project management—and allowed the company to grow in a sustainable way.
GBH: What are your plans for the future growth of your company?
HS: We are focusing on expanding regionally and strengthening our position in international markets. At the same time, we are developing more signature projects that reflect our identity and push design boundaries. The goal is to position HSI as a global design brand, not just a regional firm.
GBH: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
HS: Focus on consistency, not quick success. Build something real, invest in your team, and be patient with growth. And most importantly—don’t compromise on quality. Your reputation is your strongest asset.
