The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in partnership with Space42, has unveiled the Middle East’s first commercial Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite manufacturing facility—Space42 Space Systems—marking a major leap in the UAE’s sovereign space capabilities.
Announced at Make it in the Emirates 2025, the facility will design, assemble, and test SAR satellites used for earth observation, providing Abu Dhabi with independent access to critical space-based data.
This landmark project aligns with the UAE Space Strategy 2030 and strengthens Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation. It also promises significant economic impact by creating high-skilled jobs and developing Emirati talent through academic partnerships and training programs.
Space42 will manage the full satellite manufacturing lifecycle, helping transform Abu Dhabi into a key exporter of satellite technology and geospatial intelligence. With this initiative, the emirate asserts its leadership in the global space economy and reinforces its commitment to building a sustainable, high-tech future.
