Etihad Airways has confirmed a significant order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft as it accelerates its growth strategy aimed at doubling its fleet size by 2030. The new aircraft, a mix of Boeing 787s and the next-generation 777X models, are set to be delivered from 2028 and will be powered by GE engines, supported by a comprehensive services package.
Since 2023, the UAE’s national carrier has steadily expanded its fleet to meet rising demand and evolving network needs. This latest deal strengthens Etihad’s long-term roadmap, aligning with its ambitions to enhance global connectivity, operational efficiency, and the passenger experience.
CEO Antonoaldo Neves emphasized that the fleet expansion is part of a disciplined, forward-looking strategy. “This order reflects our focus on sustainable, demand-driven growth,” he noted.
Etihad is also finalizing a strategic plan through 2035, with the new aircraft playing a central role. The expansion underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to aviation as a key pillar of economic growth, tourism, and trade across the UAE and the wider region.
