In a landmark agreement that signals Qatar’s growing role in global aviation, Qatar Airways has signed a $200 billion deal with Boeing to acquire 160 advanced aircraft, including 787 Dreamliners and 777X jets. The announcement was made during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the region, highlighting the deepening economic ties between Doha and Washington.
The agreement is one of the largest commercial aviation deals in history and reflects Qatar’s commitment to expanding its position as a leading aviation hub in the GCC. The new fleet will support Qatar Airways’ global expansion plans and contribute to strengthening the Gulf state’s connectivity with key international markets.
In tandem with the fleet expansion, Boeing and the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) have signed an MoU to launch Boeing Aerospace Doha LLC. This strategic initiative aims to drive innovation in the aerospace sector through advanced R&D, workforce training, and collaboration with local institutions.
The partnership will also emphasize sustainable aviation and digital transformation, with planned collaborations involving Qatar University and the Qatar Computing Research Institute on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
This multibillion-dollar deal not only supports thousands of jobs in the U.S. aerospace industry but also cements Qatar’s strategic ambition to become a regional leader in aviation and aerospace innovation.
