Moniify, the financial media startup founded by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris, has announced the appointment of Lana Sawiris as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant shift in the company’s leadership and strategic direction.
Established in November 2024 and headquartered in the UAE, Moniify was launched with a vision to deliver financial news and content tailored for younger audiences in emerging markets. Backed by approximately $60 million in initial investment, the platform has faced high annual operating costs as it sought to establish its presence in the competitive media landscape.
In a recent interview with CNN Business Arabic, Naguib Sawiris revealed that the leadership change came in response to what he described as insufficient spending to drive the company’s growth. He expressed confidence in his daughter Lana’s marketing expertise and appointed her to lead the company into a new phase focused on innovation and revenue generation.
Under Lana Sawiris’s leadership, Moniify is undergoing a strategic pivot toward short-form video content centered on financial literacy and digital storytelling. With her background in globally recognized consumer brands such as Christian Louboutin and Kith, Lana is steering the platform away from traditional publishing toward a mobile-first, social-driven model designed to engage Gen Z and millennial users through accessible and educational media formats.
