Qatar Airways Reports Record $2.1 Billion Profit

GCC Business Hub – May 19

Qatar Airways has announced a record net profit of 7.8 billion Qatari riyals ($2.1 billion) for the financial year ending March 31, 2024—a 28% increase from the previous year. This marks the airline’s most commercially successful year to date, driven by sustained regional demand despite global economic uncertainty.

The airline generated over 86 billion riyals in revenue and operating income, with passenger numbers reaching 43 million—up 7.8% year-on-year. Network capacity also expanded by 4% over the previous fiscal year.

CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer attributed the airline’s strong performance to strategic industry partnerships, allowing Qatar Airways to stay flexible amid ongoing global shifts—be they political, economic, or environmental.

“2024 was a landmark year, and we anticipate continued strong demand throughout 2025,” Al-Meer stated.

While many global markets have faced pressures from trade tensions and recession fears, Gulf-based carriers like Qatar Airways continue to see robust growth, underscoring the region’s resilience and rising importance in global aviation.
