MNT-Halan, Egypt and the MENA region’s leading fintech company, has announced a strategic partnership with Visa, the global leader in digital payments, to introduce a new generation of Visa-powered Halan cards. The collaboration is set to accelerate financial inclusion, expand access to prepaid and instant credit solutions, and support Egypt’s transition toward a digitally enabled, cash-light economy.
The partnership comes at a time of strong growth for MNT-Halan. In 2025, the company issued more than one million Halan cards and processed over EGP 40 billion across more than 10 million transactions, reflecting rising consumer demand for accessible and flexible digital financial services. Building on this momentum, MNT-Halan is targeting the issuance of 2.5 million cards in 2026, supported by Visa’s global payments infrastructure and value-added services.
Through this collaboration, Visa will enable the expansion of card issuance and distribution, while supporting increased everyday usage of digital payments. The partnership also aligns with MNT-Halan’s plans to scale its card proposition across multiple markets in the region.
The Halan Visa Card functions as a prepaid card while also allowing customers to access instant credit limits. Credit approval is completed quickly using only a national ID, leveraging Halan’s proprietary AI-powered credit scoring model. This approach removes traditional barriers to credit access and enables a broader segment of the population to participate in the formal financial system.
Fully integrated into the Halan super app, the card provides users with access to a wide range of essential financial services, including bill payments, installment plans, savings, and e-commerce. Cardholders also benefit from investment-backed secured lending, loyalty and rewards programs, and cashback management, all delivered through a single digital platform.
Commenting on the partnership, Mounir Nakhla, Founder and CEO of MNT-Halan, said:
“The Halan Card represents the future of digital payments. Partnering with Visa enables us to leverage a trusted global network and world-class infrastructure to expand distribution across Egypt and prepare for entry into new markets. This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver seamless, secure, and accessible financial services to millions of customers.”
Malak El Baba, Vice President and Egypt Country Manager at Visa, added:
“MNT-Halan has established itself as a powerhouse in the regional fintech ecosystem. We are excited to support its next phase of growth by providing the robust infrastructure and value-added services needed to scale its card proposition. Together, we are delivering a superior payment experience that combines the speed of instant credit with the reliability and global acceptance of the Visa network.”
The partnership reinforces MNT-Halan’s long-term ambition to build a scalable, inclusive, and commercially sustainable financial ecosystem. By combining local market expertise with global payments capabilities, the collaboration contributes to broader efforts to digitize payments, enhance financial resilience, and expand access to financial services across Egypt.
