UAE to resume school bus services as students return to classrooms on April 20

The UAE Ministry of Education has confirmed that school bus services will resume nationwide starting Monday, April 20, restoring regular transportation operations across both public and private schools after a temporary suspension during the recent precautionary phase.

The move aligns with the full return to in-person learning for students across the country on the same day, marking a shift back to classroom education following more than a month of remote instruction.

Previously, authorities had paused bus services for nurseries, kindergartens, and schools as part of broader safety measures. In preparation for reopening, education regulators have carried out extensive readiness assessments, staff training initiatives, and operational reviews to ensure a smooth and secure transition.

In an official statement issued on April 17, the Ministry announced the resumption of on-campus learning for all students, teaching staff, and administrative personnel in public and private educational institutions, effective April 20, 2026.

Universities will also return to face-to-face instruction from the same date, according to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. While campuses have completed safety and preparedness checks, some institutions may continue to offer hybrid or remote learning options where necessary.

The shift to distance learning, initially introduced on March 2, was implemented as a precaution in response to regional security concerns linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions. What began as a temporary measure was extended in phases as authorities prioritized the safety of students and educators.

With a ceasefire now in place, the resumption of in-person education and transport services signals a measured step toward restoring normal operations within the UAE’s education sector.
