Prince William Ends Saudi Arabia Tour with Visit to a Nature Reserve

Prince William visited a nature reserve on the final day of his first official tour of Saudi Arabia, where he learned about conservation programmes focused on protecting and reintroducing endangered wildlife.

During his visit to the Sharaan Nature Reserve in eastern Saudi Arabia, the future king was briefed on efforts to restore native species, including gazelles and the Arabian oryx. He also received updates on a major initiative aimed at bringing back the critically endangered Arabian leopard.

As part of the visit, Prince William planted an acacia tree and was introduced to ongoing projects designed to protect the region’s natural environment and biodiversity.

The Prince also toured the historic old town of AlUla, home to more than 900 traditional mud-brick houses and an ancient citadel. He walked through its narrow alleyways, which once formed a key stop along the historic incense trade route that connected Arabia with global markets for spices, textiles, and aromatic goods.

In addition, he met local farmers during a visit to AlUla’s Oasis and EcoGardening farm, where he learned about sustainable farming practices and efforts to preserve the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
