His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honoured the winners of the Great Arab Minds 2025 initiative at the Museum of the Future, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to championing Arab excellence across science, innovation, culture, and knowledge.

Widely regarded as the “Arab Nobel,” the Great Arab Minds initiative is the region’s largest platform dedicated to recognising exceptional Arab achievement and investing in intellectual capital that drives sustainable development and human progress.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that the initiative was created to expand opportunities for both established and emerging Arab talent, while fostering pride in Arab contributions to global civilisation. He reaffirmed Dubai’s role as a hub that empowers innovators, researchers, and creators to shape the future.

“From the Museum of the Future, we honour Arab minds whose achievements advance civilisation and build societies,” Sheikh Mohammed said, highlighting the importance of innovation, creativity, and excellence in addressing global challenges.

The six winners of the 2025 edition were recognised across key disciplines shaping modern economies and societies. Professor Abbas El Gamal received the award in Engineering and Technology for his groundbreaking work in network information theory, while Dr. Nabil Seidah was honoured in Medicine for his research in cardiovascular health. Professor Badi Hani was recognised in Economics for advancing econometric analysis, and Professor Majed Chergui received the Natural Sciences award for his work on ultrafast molecular dynamics.

In Architecture and Design, Dr. Suad Amiry was honoured for preserving Palestinian architectural heritage, and Professor Charbel Dagher received the Literature and Arts award for his influential scholarship in Arabic and Islamic arts.

The ceremony was attended by senior members of the UAE leadership, ministers, scientists, academics, and global experts, reflecting the initiative’s strategic importance. Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chair of the initiative, described Great Arab Minds as a long-term investment in Arab potential and a powerful signal of confidence in the region’s capabilities.

Now in its third edition, Great Arab Minds continues to position the Arab world as a vital contributor to global knowledge, innovation, and cultural leadership—an ambition closely aligned with the UAE’s vision for a future driven by ideas, talent, and impact.
