- UAE Mandates First-of-the-Month Salary Payments for Private Sector Employees Starting June 2026
-
Private sector companies across the UAE will be required to pay employee salaries by the first day of every month starting June 1, 2026, under a new ministerial resolution regulating wage payments through the Wage Protection System (WPS).
Issued on May 12, Ministerial Resolution No. 0340 of 2026 introduces a unified salary payment deadline for all private sector establishments, ensuring that wages for the previous month are transferred on time. Any salary not paid by the first day of the new Gregorian month may officially be treated as delayed.
The resolution also reinforces the mandatory use of the Wage Protection System or other approved payment channels adopted by the Ministry. Employers must provide the required records and documentation confirming salary transfers and compliance with the new regulations.
The move is expected to strengthen payroll transparency, improve worker protection, and encourage timely salary disbursement across the UAE’s private sector. Businesses operating in the country are advised to review their payroll processes and ensure full compliance before the regulation takes effect in June 2026.
